About me

My philosophy for DJ’ing is;

“Enjoy what you do and do it with a smile on your face."

I often get asked what kind of music I play and to be honest anything goes. First and foremost I am a party DJ, so a mix of up-to-date chart music with a big dollop of classics and some cheese from over the years.
I don’t endlessly talk (like radio DJ’s) and don’t sing over tracks (of which I have seen many DJ’s do over the years) two of my biggest bugbears. Yes, I do talk and I’m great at crowd interaction and love to see people up and dancing – it gives me a real buzz! If you go away with a smile on your face at the end of the night - job done. I believe in giving you a value for money service. You can have the best kit in the world and charge the deficit of a small country but if you don’t play the right music.......
How it all started

A long long time ago in a bedroom far far away.......

Over 30 years ago I seriously got into my music, back in the days when you could buy an LP for £5.49 from Our Price. First off my work needed a DJ for a Roller Disco, so DJ Hutchy was born. I had plenty of music but nothing to play it on. One of the sites in my company had a really great system complete with Technics 1200 decks, brilliant amp and lights. I was lucky enough to borrow this kit on a regular basis until I was able to purchase my own, with my partner in crime DJ SL. DJ's Hutchy & SL set off on our adventures around the darkest depths of Essex playing in pubs, halls, restaurants, at corporate functions, house parties, garden parties; we must have covered them all. Uni was next on the list - resident DJ for 2 years, then into the real world but kept the music going. A resident stint at a very big and busy pub in London playing 70's & 80's went on for a couple of years as well as loads of private bookings in and around London. Now I play mainly in Kent but am happy to travel.
